Coups and economic injustices in Fiji are connected, according to a collectively combined submission to Constitution Commission by four non government oraganisations.

Speaking on behalf of Peace Justice Center, Social Education Empowerment Program, Young Labor, and People's Community Network, Father Kevin Barr said the reason why they are blaming the military is due to the number of coups they have started and that they also know that a number of business people have been given privileges by government who have also been behind financing the coups.

In addition Farther Barr said the worker's voices must be heard, their rights must be protected, and wages must be adequate in order for them to meet basic needs and cost of living.

The four NGOs specified that 60 to 70% of workers are in full time employment but earning wages below poverty line which results in so much poverty in the country.
