Papua New Guinea will soon decide on whether it will continue to be involved in PACER Plus trade negotiations which looks at a trading bloc with the Pacific and NZ and Australia.
While speaking at the Melanesian Spearhead Group Trade Ministers meeting, PNG Trade Minister Richard Maru said PNG is thinking of pulling out of the PACER Plus talks as it does not benefit the Pacific.
Maru said the PNG government is now in favour of having a MSG trading bloc.
He said other members of the MSG which include Fiji, Vanuatu and Solomon Islands can make their own decisions but Maru said for PNG the PACER Plus trade talks is a waste of time.
