The impacts of the devaluation of the Fiji dollar, downturn in the tourism sector and decreasing remittances is amongst issues on Fiji being discussed at the 2009 Pacific Islands Update by the Lowery Institute on International Policies.
Speaking to Radio Australia, Emeritus Professor at Australian National University Ron Duncan highlighted that one issue to be discussed is whether the Reserve Bank of Fiji should have devalued the Fiji dollar earlier.
However, Duncan said the tourism industry in Fiji is still not raking in the desired results in terms of revenue.
The 2009 Pacific Islands Update is currently underway in Australia.
