A technical committee has been formed by the Primary Industry Ministry to develop a formula to address the issue surrounding the compensation of dairy farms affected by Brucellosis.
Media Liaison Officer Jo Uluilakeba said the Secretariat of the Pacific Community is assisting the Ministry develop a policy. He adds compensation is considered a critical and sensitive issue in any agricultural emergency programme.
Uluilakeba said eight farms have been confirmed to have cattle found with Brucellosis.
The rehabilitation programme of the affected farms will also be considered during the emergency response programme taking into account the urgent need for these infected farms to return to full production.
