29 cases of child abuse and neglect cases have been recorded by Social Welfare Ministry for last month alone with the youngest victim being seven months old.
These cases recorded by Child Services Unit include sexual abuse, child neglect, teenage pregnancy, physical abuse, and indecent assault.
According to the Ministry the seven-month-old child was a case of child neglect while the eldest victim was 17-years-old.
Ministry Dr. Jiko Luveni has raised concern and according to her the highest cases of sexual abuse has been recorded in the Central Division while Northern Division has highest cases of neglect cases.
She has called on Non-Government Organizations, Faith Based Organizations and communities to come together and address this issue.
