The Fiji Taxi Union is calling on taxi drivers who still have not had their meters tested and sealed to do so.
Land Transport Authority records show that only 1,846 taxis out of 7,600 have had their taxi meters tested and sealed after calibration from November 7th.
FTU General Secretary Rishi Ram said whoever is found to be still using the old taxi meter rates will be in trouble under the Deed of Agreement signed between Government and the union.
It is mandatory for all taxis to comply with the set decision.
LTA is issuing a strong warning that taxis caught without the documentation of having the meters sealed and tested will be taken to task.
