Following allegations of having continuous political meetings and activities at the Sanatan Shiv temple in Samabula, the Sanatan Dharam Pratinidhi Sabha took over the temple yesterday.
National President, Sarju Prasad said the property belongs to the national body and the Suva branch was authorised to manage the property temporarily however they allegedly misused it.
According to Prasad they were looking at taking over the temple for some time and discussions were held with the President of Suva branch president, Ravishwar Prasad.
He said they will also investigate whether there was any alleged misuse of funds.
Prasad also said following the takeover, some members were also having grog sessions at the temple.
He reminded them that they cannot remove any item from the temple and can only be at the temple as a devotee.
Meanwhile, Suva branch president Ravishwar Prasad said their affiliated members will have a meeting this Wednesday before he can make comments on their next step.
