Fiji clearly following path to elections next year - Eafeare
Papua New Guinea’s High Commissioner, Peter Eafeare said it is clear that Fiji is following the path to elections next year.

Speaking to Fijivillage after the launch of the new website of the Elections Office, Eafeare said he has hosted a diplomatic Corp meeting where they have also been briefed on all developments.

Eafeare said PNG is happy that the process is moving forward.

For the first time ever, people in the country will be able to check their voter registration details and make changes, if any, through the forms provided on the new Elections Office website.

Acting Prime Minister and Minister for Elections, Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum said this gives people direct access to the Elections Office as people can see their own registration, and see information on requirements for registration of voters and political parties.

It also has information on tenders called by the office.

The website is www.electionsfiji.org.

505,000 people have been registered so far and Sayed-Khaiyum said there will be about 620,000 voters by the 2014 elections.

People attending the launch included the PNG High Commissioner, NZ’s Acting Head of Mission, Australia’s Acting Deputy Head of Mission and the Indonesian Ambassador.
