Police plans more awareness in schools on sexual offences
More schools will be targeted for awareness in relation to sexual offences and rape this year.

Police Spokesperson Atunaisa Sokomuri said that with the increasing number of offences involving children the police force is looking into directly reaching out to them in schools so that they are aware of the issues surrounding them.

Sokomuri said that they are continually working with the Education Ministry on this and every invitation they get from schools to visit them will be taken up.

He added that members of the police visited a few schools last year raising awareness on rape and other criminal offences.

Meanwhile so far this year police have recorded 50 cases of rape with many incidents involving victims under 13 years of age.
