People are asked to start taking precautions as a system is expected to develop into a tropical cyclone in the next 6-12 hours or by this evening.
This has been confirmed by Nadi Weather Office Director Rajendra Prasad who said the system is located near Udu Point.
Prasad said there will be heavy rainfall causing flash flooding in low lying areas with rivers and streams expected to burst its banks adding people should prepare to move to higher ground and secure their homes and keep listening to weather bulletins.
