Accident victim awarded over $100,000
Seven years after a road accident which left her partially disabled, 24-year-old Anju Artika is now planning to finish off her studies in beauty therapy.

Artika was involved in an accident at the Suva Bus Stand on the 26th of January, 2006 where she was hit by a bus and as a result went underneath the bus and received serious injuries on her leg.

Her father took the matter to court and last week, the Fiji Court of Appeal passed a judgement where Artika was awarded more than $100,000 in damages.

Artika said that she is happy with the judgement however it took a lot of years of her life. 

Artika who was 18 years old during the time of the accident was a student at the Fiji National University and was preparing for her final exams.

She said that her struggle in the past years has taught her a valuable lesson.


Artika took up a part time job however was not able to pull it through because of her injuries.

She is now married with a child.
