Arson trial begins
A trial has started in Suva High Court in relation to a man who allegedly set his own house on fire in Nausori in 2011.

Jitendra Kumar is charged with arson.

Special Constable Bhup Chand took the stand this afternoon and informed Judge Salesi Temo that he received a call on 5th June 2011 about a fire and when they arrived at the scene, the house was engulfed in flames.

The witness told the court that he later found Kumar heavily drunk in the bushes.

The Special Constable told the court that Kumar started crying and told him that he set his house on fire because his wife allegedly refused to give him food.
