A 23 year old woman, who was born with a medical condition that left her physically disabled has overcome all odds and with sheer determination graduated from the University of the South Pacific with a double degree today.
Arti Devi was beaming with pride as she walked up to receive her Degree in Mathematics and Computing science this morning.
Devi said that she struggled from the age of 5 years to walk and to get her Degree was a dream come true.
Meanwhile,Edgar John Pollard from the Solomon islands told his fellow graduates that we have climbed the mountains, swam across streams and paddled our canoes to get here today, so be proud.
Pollard said that the Pacific is very unique in that children grow up on farms and villages and they struggle financially to make it through school and then to travel to a foreign place to study is a big task.
He stressed to the graduating class of 2010 that life from now on would be a challenge
A total of 823 students graduated from USP today.
