This is the sound that greets many as the school day begins at Suva Grammar School.
School Principal Waisake Ravatu who took up office in the second term last year said this year will be one of change for Suva Grammar.
Ravatu, while opening the 50th year celebration for the school today, said this year will see a new Suva Grammar after over 5 years of poor results.
He added that this year they started with the downsizing of the school roll as it had taken a strain on the school’s resources, teachers as well as other students.
This morning current and former students at the school gathered at the school hall to celebrate Suva Grammar's 50 years at Veiuto.
The Chief Guest was one of the Grammarians from the 1943 to 1949 era, Robert Harness.
Harness went to Boys Grammar School located in the capital city.
A tree planting ceremony also took place at the school to mark the school's 50 years.
A weeklong Golden Jubilee celebration is planned for July with Grammarians from all over the world expected to attend.
