The issue of getting duty free concession on diesel from the government which sees bus operators pay 18 cents a litre, has nothing to do with our demands of a bus fare increase.
This is what the Fiji Bus Operators Association Pyara Singh said in relation to the Interim Finance Minister's comment that bus companies were already benefitting from the zero duty on the fuel prices and should not be asking government for further increases in bus fares.
Singh said Fiji bus operators will hold an executive meeting on Friday to discuss the action they will take.
In an earlier statement, Chaudhry confirmed that some bus companies have said they might make an application for another fare increase however he said they must be reminded they are not paying any duty on the fuel.
