19yr olds dreams possible through scholarship
A 19-year-old student of Nadi can now pursue her dreams of starting a farming business after being awarded a government scholarship to study agriculture.

Arieta Leano Cawi of Nawaqadamu, Nadi is one of the 50 students from around the country who have been awarded these scholarships.

Cawi who is the youngest in her family said she wants to be independent.

While awarding the scholarships Prime Minister Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama said for too long we have dropped the ball when it comes to the task of feeding ourselves.

Commodore Bainimarama said we have relied far too much on imports.

He said this reliance becomes even more marked when we have vast tracts of underutilized fertile land capable of producing food we need.
