Commander Fox to lead team to inspect vessels
The head of Government Shipping Services and Navy Commander John Fox will lead a team to Korea and Japan on Monday to inspect vessels that the Fiji government is intending to buy.

Commander Fox said the purchase of a vessel is in line with Government’s commitment towards improving shipping services around the country.

Fox added this will also make work easier for the GSS and those in the outer islands adding that if a tug boat is purchased it will be useful in pulling a barge which carts equipment, machines and other heavy loads.

The team will spend two weeks in Korea and Japan before presenting their recommendations to Government for the purchase of a vessel.

Government has allocated $3 million in this year’s budget for the purchase of a vessel.
