Some shops not excepting old $2 notes

Some shops not excepting old $2 notes
Concerns have been raised by some people that a few shops in Suva are not accepting the two dollar notes.

While many shops do not have any problems in accepting the two dollar notes, some consumers have raised concern that they have been asked to get the new two dollar coins instead of the note while a well known shop in Suva now has a notice on its door advising consumers that it does not accept two dollar notes anymore.

The Governor of Reserve Bank of Fiji Barry Whiteside had earlier stated that the old banknotes will be gradually withdrawn from circulation with the exception of the $2 note which will be withdrawn at a much quicker pace to allow for the introduction of the similar green coloured new $5 note in April.

He said that the co-circulation of the old and new design notes are expected to cease by December.
