From today, all the court proceedings against the five men charged with seditious offences will be heard in closed court.

Chief Magistrate Usaia Ratuvili ruled this morning that members of the public and the media will be barred from entering the court room during this case.

An application was made by the state for the proceedings to be heard in closed court for public safety and also other people allegedly involved in this case have not been arrested and charged.

It is alleged that Jagath Karunaratne, Mosese Bulitavu, Eroni Takape, Usaia Koroi and Waisale Daganayasi, in August this year, conspired to do an act, mainly writing of seditious words in public places and billboards along the Nausori and Suva roads.

The five have been released on bail and the case has been adjourned to the 22nd of this month for mention.
