PM did not assault me-Anthony

Trade Unionist Felix Anthony has stressed that last month he lodged a police complaint against the Prime Minister for allegedly threatening him last year.

Anthony confirmed that he also lodged a complaint against some members of the military for allegedly assaulting him.

However, the government stressed that trade unionist, Felix Anthony has filed a complaint against some members of the military and not against Prime Minister, Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama or the Fijian government.

Permanent Secretary for Information, Sharon Smith-Johns said the Radio NZ reports that Anthony reported Commodore Bainimarama to the police are inaccurate and mischievous with the aim of promoting personal agenda.

She said the allegations by Anthony were reported following the Prime Minister's visit to the Rarawai sugar mill in February last year.

Smith-Johns said the delay in investigations are on the part of Felix Anthony because he has been deferring the submission of his statement.

She also asked the question why it has taken Anthony 18 months to file a police report.

Smith-Johns said that until there is a full investigation into the matter, these are simply allegations.

We contacted Felix Anthony today and he said the reports by the overseas media are not true.
