Fiji may soon become a center of prosthetic manufacturer in the South Pacific.
Health minister Dr Neil Sharma said they hope to achieve this in the near future as Fiji will soon be able to produce prosthetic artificial limbs.
Dr Sharma said the Jaipur team from India is conducting an artificial limb rehabilitation camp for the next two months in which five technicians will be able to produce the same quality of prosthetic artificial limbs as produced in India.
Meanwhile, Deputy Secretary for Hospital services Dr Eleni Tora said initially 300 people will be receiving artificial limbs free of charge.
Dr Tora said people need to utilize their nearest health centres or hospitals for services.
The Ministry is currently working at setting up diabetic hubs at Labasa and Lautoka.
