The ship, MV Spirit of Fiji Islands is currently stuck on a reef near Koro Island.
Police National Divisional Command Centre confirmed that the incident occurred early this morning and said that the details will be revealed later.
We have received calls from passengers saying that some of them are still on the ship and efforts are being made to get the people to Koro Island which is just about 50 metres away.
We spoke to one of the passengers on the vessel, Junior Masirewa from Savusavu a few minutes ago.
He confirmed that all the crew and passengers are safe.
We are currently trying to speak to Consort Shipping Limited.
