Digicel Fiji 7s captain Emosi Vucago was a proud man last night in Wellington after his boys beat Pacific rivals Samoa 19-14 in the Cup finals to clinch the New Zealand 7s title.
Vucago said the sacrifice from the boys to train on New Year's Day paid off after last night's win.
The Nadali native also dedicated the win to the people of Fiji.
Meanwhile, Digicel Fiji 7s coach, Iliesa Tanivula said that the boys really worked hard for the win, and it paid off at the end of the day.
Meanwhile, New Zealand 7s coach Gordon Tietjens said he was very disappointed after his side lost to Samoa in the semifinals.
In other finals, Australia beat South Africa 26-22 to win the Plate, Wales beat France 7-5 to win the Bowl and one week before their home USA 7s in Las Vegas, Al Caravelli's Eagles beat Tonga 17-14 to win the Shield in Wellington.
