Labasa soccer team striker Roy Krishna is not far from becoming a professional soccer player.
These were the words of National Soccer Coach Carlos Buzetti, who brought Krishna into the limelight, when he heard that he has been nominated for the OFC Player of the Year award.
No one in Fiji knew who Krishna was, when he took the centre stage at the 2007 Oceania Under 20 playoff's in New Zealand and won the Golden Boot award for scoring eight goals in the competition.
Since then Krishna has become a star player in Fiji and has also won many awards in Fiji soccer.
Buzetti said his hard work is paying off, whether he wins the OFC Player of the Year award or not.
Krishna is one of the ten players nominated by OFC for the Player of the Year award, with the winner to be announced in April.
