There is no word yet on the proposed development of the $290 million casino in Denarau with the deadline for the developers now over.

The deadline for the developers to begin was last Friday however the construction works is yet to start.

We have been trying to get comments from the Attorney General Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum who had earlier told fijivillage that the delay was due to some issues the developers, One Hundred Sands Limited were facing in relation to financial arrangements and that they have given One Hundred Sands Limited up to last month to begin construction.

Sayed-Khaiyum had also said that there were certain consequences if the casino development did not meet the construction requirements within the extended time period.

We have been told that the Attorney General's office will inform us if there are any developments on this matter.

We have also been trying to get comments from the developers One Hundred Sands Limited Chairperson Larry Claunch.

The $290 million casino, convention centre and the five star hotel was scheduled for construction from last year.
