The Acting Police Commissioner has put a stop to the recruitment of more officers as well as suspending transfers.
In a statement from the Information Ministry Acting Police Commissioner Joeli Baleilevuka said the Fiji Police Force has the manpower to execute its duties, adding that there is adequate human resources and there is no need to recruit more officers.
Baleilevuka said having about 3,098 officers is sufficient for the Police Force.
The Acting Police Commissioner also revealed that senior officers have suspended all pending activities.
He stressed that the Fiji Police Force, must be seen as a force dealing directly with the its core functions and each member of the force has been given the free choice to exercise his or her own religious belief.
Baleilevuka has started meeting all officers in the three divisions to set out new directions, starting in the Southern Division before moving over to the Eastern, Western and finally the Northern Division.
