An earthquake measuring 5.0 on the Richter scale shook parts of the Northern Division and was felt as far as Rakiraki at around 3:30 this morning.
The US Geological Survey reports that the quake was located at a depth of 35 kilometers below the surface at a distance of about 135 kilometers West of Labasa.
The quake was also felt in Rakiraki and Shalen Ram from Nacovi, who was drinking grog at the time with friends, said the earth shook for about two minutes.
