Government will meet with Namosi Joint Venture (NJV) today to clearly specify the corrective measures that the company needs to carry out at the proposed Namosi mine site, said Permanent Secretary at the Prime Minister’s Office Colonel Pio Tikoduadua.
He stated yesterday that explorations will not resume until the company, Namosi Joint Venture implements some corrective measures.
Colonel Tikoduadua said the corrective measures need to be taken as they concern environmental issues arising from the exploration works and other landowners’ grievances like road access.
Namosi Joint Venture had yesterday afternoon stated that it welcomes and thanks the Prime Minister for his leadership and the process set out to address areas of concern from both landowners and NJV.
The company said all parties have agreed that NJV continue rehabilitation work on its prospecting sites.
NJV said it is committed to fulfilling this work as quickly as possible and engaging further directly with government and landowners on moving forward.
