A strong wind remains for the land areas of the Fiji group.
A tropical depression was located to the far south southwest of Nadi at 3am today and is moving further away from Fiji.
Associated active trough of low pressure continues to affect the group.
Forecast for the Fiji group today, strong north to northwest winds with average speeds of 35 to 55 km/hr with momentary gust to 85 km/hr.
Expect further periods of rain, heavy at times and squally thunderstorms and flooding of low lying areas.
North to North West winds with speeds of 35 tp 50 kilometers per hour with momentary gusts to 85 kilometers per hour. Flooding of low lying areas warning remains in place.
Meanwhile latest reports from Nadi town is that it is under 6.2 meters of water.
Also, a seawall has broken in Wailoaloa which is expected to prove a disaster.
A resident, Abbas Ali said that if the flood waters rise, Navakai and Wailoaloa residents will be badly affected.
The area has 100 households.
Rakiraki
Strong winds and rain has been experience in Rakiraki.
A resident Jona said water has receded compared to 8pm last night as flood water almost reached their home at FSC quarters in Rakiraki.
Also five families are now taking shelter at the Penang Mill last night.
At his point in time, 56 evacuation centres currently have 6800 residents.
Lautoka
Many residents in Lautoka are experiencing strong winds.
Rifle Range resident, Zahid Khan said that this morning they are experiencing very strong winds and it feels like they are in a hurricane.
Meanwhile police are now evacuating residents in Vuda seaside due flooding.
Tavua
Heavy rain and strong wind is also being experienced in Tavua at the moment.
Police confirmed that some of the areas that are still affected by flood waters include Nabuna, Vanuakula, Korovou and the Yaladro flats.
There are 521 residents staying in the 4 evacuation centers there.
Rewa
Commissioner Central confirmed that the latest water level at the Rewa river is 3.95 meters.
The critical level is 4.5 meters.
Naitasiri
Three bridges in Naitasiri is closed to all traffic.
Vunidawa police confirmed that the Waima bridge in Vunidawa, Waila bridge at Natavea road, and Vatuwaqa bridge at Monasavu road are all under water.
Also the Naqali flats is under water and is close to traffic.
Navua
Looking at the Navua river, the river level water level is dropping and confirmed at 1.64 meters in the last hour.
The critical level is 4 meters.
